Short Term Interpreting Registration

This form allows you to temporarily work as an interpreter in the state of North Carolina without holding a NC interpreting license. You must register each assignment in North Carolina by submitting this form to the NCITLB office. This exemption is outlined in 21 NCAC 25.0210 as follows:

Nonresidents who are nationally certified by the National Association of the Deaf, the National Cued Speech Association or the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. are exempt from licensure so long as they provide interpreting or transliterating services in this State for no more than 20 days during any single calendar year.

Each partial day of interpreting or transliterating shall be counted as a full day.

A nonresident providing interpreting or transliterating services under this exemption shall provide evidence of his or her certification by the National Association of the Deaf, the National Cued Speech Association, or the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc

The short term interpreting registration form may be returned by email or mail. The Board asks that you submit this form at least one week prior to your assignment.
