Appointments to the N.C. Interpreter and Transliterator Licensing Board
The Interpreter and Transliterator Licensure Act specifies that the Licensing Board shall consist of nine members, who shall serve staggered three-year terms. No member may serve more than two consecutive full terms.
All members of the Board who are required to be licensed under this Chapter must reside or be employed in North Carolina and must remain in active practice and in good standing with the Board as a licensee during their terms. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 90D-

Beverly Woodel, Chair
- A faculty member of an Interpreter Training Program or an Interpreter Preparation Programmer A qualified or professional certified instructor of the American Sign Language Teachers Association
- Appointed by: General Assembly/Speaker of the House of Representatives
- Term Expires: 6/30/2026
Mark Lineberger, Vice Chair
- An interpreter who is a member of NCRID with five years experience in a community setting and who is licensed by the Board.
- Appointed by: Governor
- Term Expires: 6/30/2027
Ashley Gordon, Treasurer
- A cued speech or oral transliterator licensed by the Board
- Appointed by: General Assembly/President Pro Tempore of the Senate
- Term Expires: 6/30/2026
Dianne Shearer, Secretary
- An employee of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.
- Appointed by: Governor
- Term Expires: 6/30/2027
Herbie Aguilar
- A member of the NC Hearing Loss Association with knowledge of the interpreting process and deafness. NC Hearing Loss Association.
- Appointed by: General Assembly/President Pro Tempore of the Senate

Nicole Alleman
- Member of the NC Deaf Blind Association

- A member of NCAD who is deaf and familiar with the interpreting process
